Structure of Piano Lessons

Students come to me to have their lessons. At your first trial lesson, I will try and put you at ease.  If you have already learnt to play the piano and/or have taken any graded exams, I will ask you to play through a few of your favourite pieces.  If you are a complete beginner, I will spend some time introducing you to the piano, the books I use, and the structure of my lessons.  The trial lesson is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and ask me any questions you may have and for me to find out a little bit more about you and what you hope to achieve from your lessons.  Each student is different and I aim to personalise my lessons so you enjoy them and ultimately achieve your goals.

For availability or to discuss your child’s needs, please message me on 07983 594201 or use the contact form.

Musicianship

When you learn how to play the piano with me, you will also be taught musicianship skills, including rhythm, harmony,  how to read music.

Examinations

I can either help you towards working for your next grade, or if exams aren’t your thing and you want to learn for the pleasure of playing your piano at home, I can show you how to play your favourite songs.  If you do wish to take examinations, I teach all the piano grades - from Pre-Grade 1 to Grade 8.  The  examination board I currently use is MTB (Music Teachers’ Board) and I have an excellent record of exam results.

Tuition Fees

I offer a very competitive pricing structure for piano and music theory tuition. Please use the ‘Contact Form’  if you wish to check on the availability of lessons or for any further information regarding piano lessons.  You can also refer to my FAQs page.

Payment Arrangements

You will be sent an invoice for the whole academic year (or the remainder of the academic year if you start lessons part way through).  The total invoice amount will be payable by monthly standing order over 12 months (or remaining time in the year).

If you book onto a Summer Course of lessons, invoices should be paid for, in full, by the due date indicated.

Lessons during the holidays can be paid for on a Pay As You Go (PAYG) basis, but at least 24 hours prior to the booked lesson.

Preferred payment method is bank transfer, details of which are indicated on the invoice, or cash if you don’t have online banking.

Lessons in School Holidays

Lessons during school holidays are possible with the agreement of the teacher.

If you are a registered student, you can book lessons through my online booking system.  These can be booked through my website by logging onto the Student Portal.  In order to confirm your booked slot, you must book 48 hours before and make payment at least 24 hours before the lesson takes place by Bank Transfer.

Lessons on Bank Holidays

Please note that I do not teach lessons on Bank Holidays.
